Saxophone repairman Matt Stohrer of http://www.StohrerMusic.com totally made up the term “inherent adjustments” and doesn’t really know if it is the best term for it but what the heck? We’re just spitballing here, and I’m not sure what else to call the inbuilt relationships between the keys- although they aren’t unchangeable, which sometimes is a part of the definition of inherent, so… Anyhow, in this riveting addition to the Saxophone Repair Tip series, he talks (briefly for once!) about a simple methodology for making your pad job better by taking care of normalizing the relationships between the bar (F# and C#) keys and the stack keys prior to starting padwork.
