Saxophonist Patrick Stadler began his study with Marcus Weiss and Lars Mlekusch at the Music Conservatory in Basel in 2005. In 2008, he graduated with the highest honors possible. After passing his Master in Arts in Pedagogy with distinction in 2010, he began soloist studies in Basel, which he will complete in 2012. He has won several different national as well as international prizes, amongst other things, a scholarship at the competiton ‘Deutscher Musikwettbewerb’, the second prize at ‘Concours National d’Exécution Musicale’ and a scholarship from the ‘Mengen foundation for young talents’. As a soloist he has been with orchestras like ‘Philharmonie Zentralschweiz’, ‘L’Orchestre Tibor Varga’ and the ‘Chamber orchestra Basel’. Other concerts have taken him through Europe and Asia. Aside from classical music, Patrick Stadler is interested in contemporary music and in collaboration with composers. He participated in the ‘Darmstädter Ferienkurse’ and in ‘Impuls’ in Graz, where he played with orchestra in the last concert. He has been greatly influenced by Georges Aperghis, Beat Furrer and Giorgio Netti. He also improvises. Important teachers have been Walther Fähndrich, Fred Frith, Evan Parker and Domenic Landolf.
