Leah Gough-Cooper — Alto and Soprano Saxophone, Electronic Wind Instrument
Scottish Alto & Soprano Saxophonist, Electronic Wind Instrumentalist and Composer & Arranger, Leah won a full international scholarship to the world-famous Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA, in 2005. She has worked and performed with such iconic musicians as George Garzone, Joe Lovano, Tiger Okoshi, Bootsy Collins, Fred Wesley and Danilo Perez. In 2009, she then won a full scholarship to the New England Conservatory of Music, where she studied and worked with such musicians as Jerry Bergonzi, Ran Blake, Miguel Zenon and Gunther Schuller. Leah leads her own groups Human Equivalent & Human Equivalent NYC, The Janus Quintet and, more recently, her own solo project PANOOC, has toured for performances world-wide (Venezuela, France, Taiwan) and locally (Scotland, Boston, NYC) and has had her playing and compositions featured on BBC Radio Scotland and BBC Radio 2. Now settled in the Brooklyn and Manhattan scenes in NYC, she performs with various groups, from jazz to Brazilian, as well as performing and working within film and television. Although having studied Jazz primarily, her styles and approach to playing and writing are as far-reaching as electronic, funk, classical and pop.
