Diane Hunger — Saxophone; Prof. Dr Wildy Zumwalt — Saxophone
The German word Klang refers to sound and hints at the unique quality and enormous range of tone colors (klangfarben) inherent in the saxophone. Par2 is a reference to the ubiquitous presence of the saxophone in world culture. It also suggests a pair of instruments and artists on equal footing, while making a subtle nod to the parabolic design of the inventor Adolphe Sax (1814-1894). Klang Par2 is committed to the expansion of dynamic new works for two saxophones as well as rediscovering and rendering music from the past. The Duo was formed in 2009 by Wildy Zumwalt and Diane Hunger. Wildy Zumwalt is an active performer, teacher and scholar of the saxophone. He is currently professor of saxophone at the State University of New York at Fredonia. Diane Hunger is presently pursuing her Doctorate of Musical Arts at the Eastman School of Music with Chien-Kwan Lin, while serving as his teaching assistant, and a Certificate in Arts Leadership. Additionally she is an Adjunct Instructor for Saxophone at the State University of New York at Fredonia. KLANG PAR2 recently performed a series of concerts in Germany and the Netherlands. Additionally they performed and taught at the 7th International Saxophone Festival in Poland. They were featured at the International Alliance of Women in Music conference in Flagstaff, Arizona and the conference of the North American Saxophone Alliance in West Point, NY in 2011.
