Saxophone Repair Topic: Key fit and the G#/bis regulation

Posted on 9 de octubre de 2020

Saxophone repairman Matt Stohrer of shows how sometimes things that seem simple in saxophone repair can actually take quite a bit of knowledge, time, skill, and investment in tools to make absolutely right.

In this Saxophone Repair Topic, he speaks at length about the importance of good key fit in a particular area of the saxophone: the G#/bis adjustment, otherwise known as the automatic G# and 1+1 Bb fingering. Perfect key fit is essential to having a saxophone play at its best, and this particular adjustment illustrates some of the concepts and reasons why that is so.

Note: there is some rather weird artifacting from youtube’s shakiness reduction, but its better than the original shaky video.
