Saxophone repairman Matt Stohrer of http://www.stohrermusic.com was minding his own business being happy and feeling good about stuff in general when Brian from http://www.getasax.com laid upon him information so dark and disheartening that the only way Matt could unburden himself was by sharing it with everyone else.
SML (Strasser-Marigaux-Lemaire) saxophones have a dark secret: their gold plated horns are not actually plated with real gold, but instead are plated in «Perma Gold», a beautiful (but not actual gold) finish that flakes and burns like lacquer but shines (mostly) like gold.
