Melisma Saxophone Quartet (11:00, Saturday 14 July, All Saints) David Cristobal -- Soprano Saxophone; Marijke Schröer -- Alto Saxophone Henriette Jensen -- Tenor Saxophone; Jonas Tschanz -- Baritone Saxophone Melisma Saxophone Quartet is a young international ensemble based in Amsterdam in the Netherlands. The quartet was formed in autumn 2009 and since then the quartet has distinguished itself as a very talented young ensemble with a great potential. In May 2011 the quartet reached the final of the 7th Osaka International Chamber Music Competition in Japan as the first Dutch ensemble ever, and received honourable mentions for their performances. Melisma Saxophone Quartet have performed in the bigger concert halls in the Netherlands and abroad, among them The Manuel de Falla Hall (Madrid, Spain), Izumi hall (Osaka, Japan), Orgelpark (Amsterdam), and at major festivals e.g. The 1st Bach Festival in Dordrecht 2010 (NL). The quartet has also played live on the Dutch national Radio 4 directly from the Spiegelzaal in the Concertgebouw (Amsterdam). Melisma feel equally at home in early music as well as in the more recent traditional repertoire for saxophone quartet. The quartet is also curious to find new repertoire for saxophone quartet and often make their own arrangements of music from their home countries, as there are four different nationalities represented in the quartet (Danish, Dutch, Spanish and Swiss).
