The University of Alberta Summer Music Academy Saxophone Edition is open to saxophonists 18 years of age up to young professionals as well as chamber music groups who wish to study together. This Academy is an occasion to discover, widen your repertoire in various aesthetics, exchange artistic experiences, and to participate in unique concerts.

The University of Alberta Summer Music Academy is a unique experience in Western Canada for young saxophonists, offering students the chance to study music, technique, and artistic interpretation with three artists who create and collaborate throughout the world. Marie-Bernadette Charrier, Marie-Chantal Leclair, and Allison Balcetis will bring their unique perspectives and years of teaching experience for students to learn from all in one place, in one week. This Academy is also valuable from a peer-to-peer perspective: students converge in Edmonton from diverse places, learning from each other in chamber music settings, in the practice rooms, and group lessons. In one week, you will have ample opportunity to learn from the saxophone professors, the excellent pianists with whom you will play, your saxophonist peers, and visiting Edmonton composers who will give first-hand perspective on the interpretation of their works.
