Interview with Timothy McAllister: Gershwin, Adams & the Orchestral Saxophone

Gershwin Initiative assistant and saxophonist Lisa Keeney interviews Dr. Timothy McAllister, professor of saxophone at the University of Michigan, on the use of saxophone in the orchestral works of John Adams and George Gershwin.

The first concert of the School of Music, Theatre & Dance 2016–17 season will feature the world premieres of two of the Gershwin Initiative’s Critical Editions: Concerto in F and the Unabridged Edition of An American in Paris. The USO will also perform two works by composer John Adams, including his Saxophone Concerto, with saxophonist Timothy McAllister.

The Gershwin Initiative would like to thank Novus New Music, Inc. for collaborating with us for this video. If you have saxophone-related projects, we encourage you to check them out on Facebook and at their site: www.novusnewmusic.com
