The Saxophone Association Hamaikasax and the Music School Inazio Bereziartua (Elgoibar, Gipuzkoa) have organized the 2nd Hamaikasax Competition for Young Saxophonists.
With this competition, the Saxophone Association Hamaikasax aims to follow with the work done during the last 12 years, expanding and developing the classic saxophone in our country.
The main objective of the competition is to give the young musicians an incentive to keep on working with their instrument and receive thereby the results of their work.
Being an international competition, the participants will have the opportunity to develop their musical skills, as they will listen to saxophonists from other music schools and conservatories with a similar age and level.

Besides, the competition aims to support young students that want to undertake professional musical studies. Likewise, the competition will also attempt to help the youngest students developing their abilities to play the saxophone, encouraging them participating in this kind of competitions, and getting good studying habits.
• The “2nd HAMAIKASAX contest” for young saxophonist will take place in Inazio Bereziartua Music school, Elgoibar the 6th and 7th of February 2021.
• The enrollments will close the 15th of January 2021 or once the spots are full.
• There will be two categories:

– For saxophonist up to 16 years, born in 2004 included
– 12 competitors in total
– Divided in two phases, eliminatory phase and final phase
– The jury will determine the number of participants that will get to the final round
– In the eliminatory phase, a musical piece chosen from the suggestions list made by the organization will be performed.

– In the final phase, in addition to the chosen piece for the semifinal, a musical piece composed by Haizea Huegun for the occasion will be performed, that musical piece will be handed once the inscription is completed

– For saxophonist up to 12 years, born in 2008 include.
– 12 competitors in total.
– Divided in two phases, eliminatory phase and final phase
– 5 contestants chosen by the jury will get to the final phase
– In the eliminatory phase, the musical piece “Vancances” from J.M Damase will be performed.
– In the final phase a musical piece chosen from the organization list of suggestions will be performed.

• The schedule of the performances and the award ceremonies (prize-giving) will be publish once the enrollments are closed.
• Any information related with the contest will be given in advanced.
• Participants will be allowed to bring their own pianist accompanist. The organization will provide pianist accompanists and the participants will be able to make a 15 minute rehearsal on 5th February, during the afternoon. The participants that will play with the pianists provided by the organization will pay an additional amount of 25€.

There will be prices for all the contestants

• Places are limited in category A and B (12 in each) and they will be granted by strict order of registration.

• The enrollments will close the 15th of January 2021 or once all the spots are full. ​
• The price of inscription for the different categories is the following one:
– “A Category” 35€
– “B Category” 25€

• The contestant that request a piano accompanist will need to pay 25€ in addition.
