[COMPETITION] VIII International Saxophone Competition “Vitor Santos” (Palmela, PORTUGAL)

Vitor Santos Competition

PROGRAM
Infant category: single round, free solo piece, with electronic or playalong (max 5mn)
Juvenile category: single round, free solo piece, with electronic or playalong (max 10mn)
Junior category: single round. Free solo piece or with electronic (complete or not) – max 15mn
Senior category: single round. Free solo piece or with electronic (complete or not) – max 15mn
Chamber music category: single round. Free piece (complete or not) – max 15mn

REGISTRATION
– Infant category: 25€

REGULATIONS
Art. 1
The registration in the Competition constitutes acceptance of the official rules and any change made by the organization, in special circumstances.

Art. 2
The Competition is open to musicians of all nationalities.

Art. 3- Procedure
The competition will be held in an online format, as per the restrictions in place due to the pandemic.
The registration should be submitted on the Competition Registration From available at FISP official website (www.fispalmela.com) until the 15th of June 2021.
After validation of the registration, each participant should send the participation video as a Youtube link (of a non listed video) and via a file transfer platform (such as Wetransfer, GoogleDrive, Dropbox) to fisp.inscricoes@gmail.com until the 15th of June 2021.

Art. 4 – Participation Video
The participation video will have to be recorded on a single shot, without cuts or any kind of editing, either video or sound.
Edited videos with any kind of sound effects or filters will not be considered valid.
The participation video can be recorded with a mobile phone or with professional equipment (the quality of the recording will not be considered for evaluation purposes).
Please read the Good Practice Manual for Video Recording available on our official website.

Art. 5 – Categories (dates in dd/mm/yyyy format)
– Infant Category: Born from 12/07/2008
– Juvenile Category: Born between 12/07/2005 and 11/07/2008
– Junior Category: Born between 12/07/2002 and 11/07/2005
– Senior Category: Born between 12/07/1990 and 11/07/2002
– Senior Category: All ages.

Art. 6 – Stages of the competition
All categories are decided in a single round.

Art. 7 – Program
– Infant Category: One piece chosen by the participant (solo, with electronics or play along). Maximum duration of 5 min.
– Juvenile Category: One piece chosen by the participant (solo, with electronics or play along). Maximum duration of 10 min.
– Junior Category: One piece chosen by the participant, or a part of (solo, with electronics). Maximum duration of 15 min.
– Senior Category: One piece chosen by the participant, or a part of (solo, with electronics). Maximum duration of 15 min.
Chamber Music Category: One piece chosen by the participant, or a part of. Maximum duration of 15mn.

Art. 8 – Payment
The participation in the competition has a paid registration:
– Infant Category:  25€ (twenty-five euros)
– Juvenile Category: 30€ (thirty euros)
– Junior Category: 35€ (thirty-five euros)
– Senior Category:  40€ (forty euros)
– Chamber Music Category: 20€ (twenty euros ) for each element of the group

Art. 9 – Disqualification
The participants will be disqualified without the reimbursement of the paid values, in any situation where the rules of the competition are not respected or if the information submitted on the form is not verified on the participation video.

Art. 11
The head of the Jury has veto power.

Art. 12 – Assessment methodology
Each member of the Jury will assess each participant from 1 to 20 values.
At the end of each performance the assessments will be collected and counted.
If one of the members of the Jury is the teacher of one of the participants, his assessment will be removed and the final assessment of each participant will be the average of the remaining assessments given by the Jury.
At the end of each round, all the assessments will be disclosed to the Jury as well as the final results.
If there is a tie the head of the Jury will have veto power.
There can be place for honourable mentions, exclusively on exceptional cases, if the Jury is consensual

Art. 13
The Jury’s decisions are final and unquestionable.

Art. 14
If necessary the Festival organization can nominate new Jury members.

Art. 15 – Publishing
All participant videos will be published on the official channels of FISP and Adolphesax.com from the 12th to the 14th of July 2021.

Art. 16
The results will be announced at the winners concert, on July 15th at 21h30 (UTC +1), live at the São João Theatre, Palmela, with broadcast to both FISP and Adolphsax.com official channels.

Art. 17 – Awards
All the participants will receive a participation certificate and a written comment from all jury members.

Art. 18
Image rights – FISP reserves the right to transmit some or all of the tests in the competition for radio or television, as well as to use these recordings for promotional purposes of FISP, without prior authorization.
