1st International Saxophone Quartet Competition Andorra 2016

The Associació de Saxofonistes d’Andorra, organiser of the ANDORRA SAX FEST’16, announces the I Andorra International Saxophone Quartet Competition, to be held in Andorra la Vella from March 30th to April 1th 2016, according to the present

ELIGIBILITY AND REGISTRATION
The competition is open to all saxophonists of all nationalities with an average group age for all of the members of 30 years on March 16th, 2016. Participation can be requested using the registration form available at the official website (www.andorrasaxfest.com)
Participation requests must attach the following documents:
a) Photocopy of passport or official identity card.
b) Brief biography and artistic curriculum vitae.
c) Recent picture of the group members.
d) In case of minors, authorisation signed by parent or legal guardian.
There will be a maximum of 15 Quartets. Registrations will be accepted by order of payment until March 7th 2016. There will be no refunds once the payment is received. Cancellation and refund for extraordinary reasons, will be evaluated by the organising committee.. The list of admitted competitors will be published on the official website by March 14th, 2016.
The submission of the registration form implies unconditional acceptance of these regulations.

PROGRAMME
Check-in for the competition will take place on March 29th from 10AM-1PM and 2:30-16:30PM at Andorra La Vella´s Centre Cultural La Llacuna.The official presentation and performance order draw will be held on March 29th 2016 at 17 hours at Centre Cultural La Llacuna. Competitors must be present to receive their performance time and their absence will be considered a withdrawal from the competition.
The competition will consist of the following rounds:
First ROUND
It will take place on March 30th 2016, from 9h30 AM onwards at the Centre de Congressos d’Andorra la Vella. The competitors must appear before the Competition Committee no later than 20 minutes prior to their scheduled performance.
Failure to be present at the assigned performance time will be considered a withdrawal from the competition.
Each competitor will interpret two works, one compulsory work plus one work to be chosen among the list below. The overall duration of the programme must not exceed 25 minutes.
The jury will ask to terminate performances that exceed the time limit.
A maximum of 5 quartets will be chosen for the Final Round.

FINAL ROUND
It will take place on April 1th 2016, from 10h AM onwards at the Centre de Congressos d’Andorra la Vella. The competitors must appear before the Competition Committee no later than 20 minutes prior to their scheduled performance.
Failure to be present at the assigned performance time will be considered a withdrawal from the competition.
On this round, each quartet will perform 2 pieces. One free transcription plus the winner composition of the 36th Young Composers Competition, 2015 Premi Internacional Frederic Mompou. This piece will be presented on December 16th 2015. After this date, the music will be available as PDF download on our webpage.
The overall duration of the programme must not exceed 30 minutes. The jury will ask to terminate performances that exceed the time limit.
All the competition events will be open to the public.
JURY
The following jury members will adjudicate the competition: Joan MARTÍ-FRASQUIER, Christian WIRTH, Eddy LOPEZ, Joao FIGUEIREDO and Philippe LECOCQ.
During the first meeting, the members of the jury will examine the circumstances of abstention: any juror having a teaching relationship with a competitor must declare such relationship and will abstain from voting on the competitor’s performances.
Deliberation of the jury will take place after each round. Competitors eliminated will be given a chance to discuss their results with members of the Jury.
The jury reserves the right not to award all prizes.
The decisions of the jury are final.
PRIZES
The following prizes will be awarded:
First prize: €2000
Second prize: €1000
Third prize: €500
Fourth prize: €200
Fifth prize: €200
In order to receive the prize, contestants must be present on the award ceremony.

Registration for the competition only: €200,00
